P5/6/7 School Trip to Enniskillen Castle – WW2 Experience
7th Nov 2025
Our P5/6/7 class recently visited Enniskillen Castle as part of our World Around Us topic on World War II. The trip was both educational and engaging, offering pupils a hands-on insight into life during wartime.
During the visit, pupils:
- Explored the local impact of WW2 in the Enniskillen area.
- Had the opportunity to try on authentic war uniforms.
- Experienced the chilling sound of air raid sirens.
- Stepped inside a reconstructed Anderson shelter, gaining a real sense of wartime living conditions.
Our guide, Julian, shared a wealth of fascinating facts about WW2, including a summary of Hitler’s rise and fall. He was incredibly impressed by our pupils, commenting:
"This class is one of the best groups I have ever had due to their excellent behaviour, prior knowledge of WW2 facts, and relevant questions on the war."
This trip has greatly enriched our understanding of WW2 and sparked even more curiosity and discussion in the classroom.
